Steven Aspland

Managing Director and Authorised Representative

Steve studied engineering and surveying and worked in that field until joining the family business in 1983. Progressing to be a qualified Financial Planner by 1987 through the Australian Institute of Management, Steve took over the reins of Unac when his father Peter retired in 1994. He has continued to assist both individuals and organisations build wealth to secure their financial future. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Financial Services (Financial Planning).

"I became an adviser to help people live out their dreams. I enjoy developing planning strategies for any life stage. However I'm particularly interested in building clients’ superannuation and subsequently structuring those funds for a secure retirement lifestyle" says Steve.

When Steve is not helping his clients build their financial future you will find him spending time with his family, boating, fishing or enjoying a good wine.

Kristian Karlsen

Financial Planner and Authorised Representative

Kristian studied engineering and commerce at UWA before joining a growing Perth online stockbroking business. The following 5 years saw him work in a number of client service roles with major wealth management platforms in Perth and Melbourne. Returning to Perth in late 2006 Kristian joined Unac who had been one of the clients he supported in his previous roles.

With over a decade of experience in financial services including 6 years with major wealth management platforms, Kristian has a thorough understanding of investment, superannuation and retirement products and their role in a financial plan. He also holds a Graduate Diploma (Financial Planning). He is ideally placed to help his clients plan for retirement.

"One of the reasons I became an adviser was to help clients de-mystify superannuation and achieve their financial goals" says Kristian. "We are seeing an increasing trend where clients put off planning for retirement until a few years before they finish working. From an advice perspective, this means they often have fewer options open to them to help them reach their retirement goals."

Susan Aspland

Financial Controller

Sue has been with Unac since the late 1980’s. She manages all financial aspects of the practice. Sue previously specialised in the superannuation area with Prudential.

Helena Hyland

Practice Manager

Helena joined Unac in 2004 and has a wealth of knowledge in the financial arenas. Helena holds an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) and deals mainly with the implementation of advice, ongoing client service and the day to day running of the office. Helena can also assist you with any queries you may have.

David Dong

Client Relations Consultant

David joined Unac in 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting/Financial Planning) from Curtin University. He is also an Associate Member of CPA and FPA Australia. David primarily assists our advisers in preparation of advice documentation and processing client transactions. David is also available to assist clients with general queries.

Sarah Summers

Receptionist and Administration Assistant

Sarah joined Unac as our receptionist in 2010 and provides administrative support to the team. Her friendly voice will greet you when you call and she can direct your calls to the appropriate person. Sarah can also assist with general queries and manages our contact management system so make sure you let her know if your contact details change.
